Edupreneur Spotlight: Amy Dockter-Rozar

Amy Dockter-Rozar, Principal at West Career & Technical Academy in Las Vegas, identifies a common thread in the issues facing the education field today: satisfaction with the status quo.

It was this realization that led her to fully embracing her path to edupreneurship with Educator Dynamics.

“People have been very comfortable doing things the way they always had,” she explains. “Insert your excuse: budget constraints, accountability, liability, and so on.”

Dockter-Rozar has noticed a pattern of teachers placing limitations on themselves in response to fear. “They err on the side of safety,” she says.

The effect of the pandemic on education has been swift and severe. Teachers have had to abruptly and fundamentally change how they deliver content, manage classrooms, and meet administration guidelines.

Dockter-Rozar sees this upheaval as an opportunity for educators to chart a course toward meaningful change. “Education may be broken,” she says, “But the universe is providing an opening for us to rebuild. In many ways, this is a perfect opportunity.”

Sandi Herrera, Founder & CEO of Educator Dynamics, agrees. “It’s human nature to become stagnant until we’re kind of nudged,” she says.

Dockter-Rozar knew that for her to break free from the status quo so that she could more effectively inspire her community, it was time to answer some hard questions:

  • How can I be a better leader?

  • How can I be truthful with myself about what I lack?

  • How can I identify and capitalize on my strengths?

That’s when she reached out to Herrera to learn more about the Educator Dynamics programs.

“I was drawn to Sandi because of the way she emphasizes positivity and the message that working in your own flow will innovate education,” she says. “Sandi reminds us that we all do our best when we’re operating from our own core values and strengths.”

Herrera’s personal connection to industry leaders was a factor for Dockter-Rozar, as well. “I don’t need to make dozens of new connections,” she says. “Sandi has those connections. It’s about going all-in with the program and fully trusting her approach.”

Dockter-Rozar points to Herrera’s connections as a key driver for her edupreneurial success with the Educator Dynamics programs. She says experts in education and business topics like productivity have helped her to let go of what was no longer serving her in her personal or professional life.
