Let’s drop “balance”
What image does the word “balance” bring to mind?
A scale?
A juggling act?
An out-of-reach goal?
A tightrope?
Educators so often hear about the importance of balance in showing up for their students, their work, their families and their personal lives (let alone “self care”). But, “balance” can feel stressful and elusive in the wake of pandemic learning and the many demands on educators’ time.
What if the aim wasn’t “balance?”
What if we considered rhythm?
Ask yourself: What’s my rhythm today?
Finding a rhythm for yourself requires trusting your own guidance. To notice when you’re in resonance or dissonance. To navigate from a position of strength.
When we give ourselves permission to grow and flow from our own intuition, we get into our own rhythm.
What would be different about today if you found your own rhythm? How would you show up differently for your students? For yourself?
