Your Natural Brain-Wired Strength
Effective leaders and educators elevate team members and students by leveraging their unique abilities and talents.
Leadership confidence often originates in an open-minded dive into personal introspection. We have much to learn about our brain strength by framing the process of self-understanding by diving into some of the traditional Chinese teachings that have been the basis for personality profile assessments for decades.
How Your Personal Flow Enhances Your Leadership Skills
Examining how your leadership qualities fit into the Five Elements is a revealing, valuable experience. Each element is linked to specific natural strengths that can inform your ideal leadership style and your personal flow. When it comes to how our brains are connected to the Elements, we reference them as frequencies. When you think of how our brains receive and process information an easy way to think about it is to reference radio waves or frequencies.
At Educator Dynamics we use an assessment called Talent Dynamics to teach the Five Elements/Frequencies in an easy user friendly way of how our brains work. This helps to amplify our personal value and learn effective communication between the way others brains are naturally wired to get the best out of those around us.
The Five Frequencies are also connected to the way we naturally learn and the learning styles that resonate best with us.
For example, leaders who identify with the Dynamo frequency tend to thrive in environments filled with significance and freedom and are more visual learners. Leaders who identify more with the Blaze frequency shine when they apply leadership skills like communication and variety and tend to be more auditory learners.
The Five Elements / Frequencies
Wood (Dynamo) relates to innovation and big picture thinking.
Fire (Blaze) relates to extroverted energy with a focus on people.
Earth (Tempo) relates to sensory energy and deep rooted customer service.
Metal (Steel) relates to systems based thinking, gaining energy from more introverted activities.
Water (Spirit) relates to the overall why behind everything and how things grow and flow naturally.
Traditional Chinese philosophers used the study of the Five Elements to explain a wide range of phenomena, from weather and space concepts to internal medicine to how the human mind works. Virtually anything imaginable can be categorized into one of the five energy types.
The study of Chinese energy is central to many Eastern philosophies and academic pursuits. It forms the foundation of Feng Shui design, which is based on creating balance in a physical space between the elements or to attract a specific element or energy. Many Eastern medicine approaches are rooted in the concept of the Five Elements, as well.
What Gives you Energy? What Drains You?
Each element relates to both positive and challenging personal traits, an example of Yin and Yang. As you develop a deeper understanding of your inner self within the Five Elements, you’ll learn valuable information about how you are “wired.” You’ll discover what motivates you and on the flip side, the kinds of activities that seem to take away your motivation and energy.
